Dignity and Joy Served Daily at LSSN’s New 50’s Diner
Lutheran Social Services of Nevada (LSSN) is dishing up more than meals—they’re serving dignity, joy, and community support from their newly transformed Journey Center in Las Vegas.
The Journey Center, home to LSSN’s beloved Senior Meals Program, recently completed a major renovation. Thanks to the addition of a full commercial kitchen, all meals are now prepared in-house by Chef Dom, ensuring that seniors receive fresh, nutritious, and lovingly prepared food. The space now features colorful retro-style booths, officially turning the dining room into the Journey Center 50’s Diner. The cheerful atmosphere is drawing smiles and lifting spirits. Want to visit? Email media@lssnv.org to schedule a tour—or simply stop by: 4323 Boulder Hwy, Las Vegas, NV 89121.
Throughout July, LSSN is hosting Peanut Butter Wars, a month-long campaign to raise funds and collect jars of peanut butter and similar pantry items. Nutritious, filling, and shelf-stable, peanut butter is a vital staple for food pantries. Donations can be dropped off at LSSN’s Boulder Highway location between July 1–31. Every jar and every dollar makes a difference.
Another way to get involved: support the ongoing She Cares Initiative, which provides hygiene products and purses to women experiencing hardship. Donations of shampoo, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene items, deodorant, and lotion are especially needed. With help from partners like Holy Spirit Lutheran Church and Total Promotions, each purse becomes a symbol of dignity and care. To contribute, email media@lssnv.org.
This month’s Partner Spotlight shines on Total Promotions, whose generosity provided high-quality donated goods that directly support individuals and families across the region. These gifts restore dignity to those who’ve experienced loss—and as two recent client stories illustrate, remind people that their future still matters.
Finally, join us in celebrating Barbara Hudson, named LSSN’s Employee of the Month, whose kindness and compassion reflect the heart of this mission.
LSSN’s work embodies the ELCA’s commitment to accompany those in need with justice and mercy. Whether through food, hygiene, or human connection, LSSN reminds us that love is a verb—and in Southern Nevada, it’s being lived out daily.
