At our 2025 Synod Assembly, the offering from worship and any designated gifts will be split evenly between two urgent and vital ministries: Lutheran Social Services of Nevada (LSSN) and Lutheran Disaster Response, with funds from the latter directed specifically to support recovery efforts following wildfires in Southern California.
We invite every congregation in the Grand Canyon Synod to participate in this act of collective generosity. Whether or not you are sending a voting member or visitor to Assembly, your congregation can be part of this offering by collecting a designated gift ahead of time and sending it along with your assembly participants or mailing it directly to the synod office.
Why These Two?
Lutheran Social Services of Nevada serves some of the most vulnerable individuals and families in the Las Vegas area and beyond. Their work in food security, housing stability, and holistic social services offers real hope rooted in dignity and compassion. As a key local partner in our synod, supporting LSSN reflects our commitment to love our neighbors in concrete, life-sustaining ways.
Lutheran Disaster Response is on the ground supporting long-term recovery after devastating wildfires across Southern California. In the face of destruction and displacement, LDR walks alongside survivors with spiritual care, coordinated recovery efforts, and essential support services.
Our Theological Call
As people formed by grace and sent to love, we give not because we must, but because we can. These gifts are a tangible expression of the church’s presence in the world—a way of joining Christ in tending to wounds both near and far. Let us be generous with what we have, trusting that God will multiply what we offer.
How to Give
Offerings may be collected at your congregation in advance or during worship at Synod Assembly. All collected funds will be evenly divided between the two recipients.
