Spreading Love: The 2023 Peanut Butter Wars Champions Announced

Every summer, this friendly competition brings together churches, businesses, and service groups in a race to collect peanut butter—one of the most in-demand food pantry items—and make a real difference in fighting food insecurity.

New Song Lutheran Church emerged as the 2023 champions with a jaw-dropping 16,235 pounds of peanut butter collected! They were closely followed by Community Lutheran Church, winning an award for the most creativity, with 9616 pounds. Other notable contributions came from churches such as Good Samaritan, Saint Andrew, Christ the Servant, and more, all of whom displayed impressive efforts in their collections.

Lutheran Social Services of Nevada offers Egg Hunt and Resource Fair

What are some adjectives that we use to describe our Egg Hunt and Resource Fair? Well it was wild and it was joyful.

We were able to serve about 380 children from 240 families with multiple resources! It was on the local news on NBC channel 3, CBS channel 8, and Fox 5 (see clip here). Thanks to everyone that made this happen; it was an example of many people coming together to help under served families and children. View a video recap here.

Lutheran Social Services of Nevada sets record for Angel Tree Christmas drive

We are very excited to report that we have shattered our old record for our Angel Tree Christmas drive. This year we were able to serve a grand total of 322 children from 139 families! We also served 59 senior citizens that are a part of our Senior Meals Program.

Thank you to Christ the Servant, Living Hope, St. Andrew, Mountain View, New Song, Good Samaritan at the Lakes, and First Good Shepherd.
