Special Guest Rev. Dr. Toni Hawkins: A Beacon of Inspiration for 2024 Synod Assembly
We are thrilled to announce that the Rev. Dr. Altonnette D. Hawkins, known as Dr. Toni, will join us as a special guest at our 2024 Synod Assembly. Dr. Toni brings a rich tapestry of experience and wisdom to our gathering, serving as the Transitional Conference Minister for the Southwest Conference of the United Church of Christ. Her diverse background in ministry, education, and reconciliation work positions her as a beacon of inspiration for our assembly.
As an adjunct faculty member at both Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and Lexington Theological Seminary, Dr. Toni has dedicated over a decade to mentoring seminarians and members in discernment. Her expertise in pastoral counseling, conflict mediation, negotiation coaching, and DEI facilitation is founded on prestigious training, including the Harvard University School of Law Executive Education Program on Negotiation and Dispute Resolution.
Dr. Toni's journey has taken her from serving as a local pastor in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the UCC in Maryland and Kentucky to being recognized in Who’s Who in Louisville: African American Profiles. Her commitment to local, regional, and national boards exemplifies her dedication to broader church and societal transformation.
With Proverbs 3:5-6 as her guiding scripture and the belief that "the best is yet to come" as her favorite saying, Dr. Toni embodies a spirit of hope and forward-looking faith. We eagerly anticipate the insights and inspirations she will share as she preaches at one of our worship services during the assembly.
Join us in welcoming Dr. Toni to our synod assembly, where we look forward to the unique perspectives and enriching experiences she will bring to our community of faith.
