What is a refugee and how does the resettlement process work?
Did you know that most refugees who resettle in the United States have completed 10 years of vetting? And did you know that refugees receive a loan from the U.S. government for their airfare and initial housing costs which requires repayment to begin 6 months after arriving?
This community forum will explain the requirements for refugee status and the process of resettlement. A panel from Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest will lead this informational event. The panel will consist of:
Connie Phillips – President and CEO, Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest,
Charlotte Shurtz - Faith and Community Engagement Coordinator, Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest
Solveig Muus - Director, Lutheran Advocacy Ministry Arizona.
Join us in the sanctuary at 7100 N. Mockingbird Lane, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253, for this educational opportunity to learn more about refugees and the resettlement process.
There will be opportunities for Q&A provided. Light refreshments will be served following the presentation.
