The Lutheran World Federation's Thirteenth Assembly will convene in Krakow, Poland, from September 13-19, marking a monumental gathering for the 77 million members from 150 churches in 99 countries. This year's theme, "One Body, One Spirit, One Hope," emphasizes unity in Christ in an ever-divided world, drawing inspiration from Ephesians 4:4. The Assembly also spotlights three subthemes: the Spirit creates, reconciles, and renews. Pre-assemblies for women, youth, and men are set to kick off the discussions.
With the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland as the host, attendees will also reflect on the LWF’s journey from Windhoek to Krakow over the last six years. Keynote speakers, including Rev. Dr Benny Sinaga and Rev. Dr Bruk Ayele, will explore the Assembly's themes in depth. An important highlight includes a visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial, emphasizing the call to uphold human dignity everywhere. The event also brings forth the "Hope for the Future" study document to renew Jewish-Christian Relations, emphasizing unity and dialogue.
