First Call Theological Education group gathers in Prescott
Let’s talk about money. Should pastors know who gives what and how much? Pastors new to the roster in the Grand Canyon Synod discussed this with Bishop Hutterer and Pastor Jacqui Pagel at Camp Pinerock in Prescott. Seven pastors from across the Synod gathered to complete their additional education required after seminary. We took a deep dive into scriptural text that use money, joined New Journey via Zoom for a review of “Reflections on Faith and Finances by Charles Lane,” led by Lisa Higginbotham,. They also had a great time taking a field trip to check out Camp ALOMA. The synod has great people poised to provide great leadership to our ministry sites here and across Churchwide.
In April, 2023, we will gather at Spirit in the Desert and discuss the relevance of applying Family System Theory to our ministry sites. All deacons and pastors in the ELCA are expected to complete 3 years of post-seminary education provided by their synod. FCTE is an opportunity for us build collegiality, encourage healthy self-care practices, and stay reminded that we are called to lead in the church.
