Diving Deep into Black History, Freedom, and Love with Influential Voices
This Black History Month, the Office of the Bishop invites our community to delve into an enriching educational journey with MasterClass's seminal series, "Black History, Black Freedom, and Black Love."
Featuring insights from seven of the most influential Black voices in America, including Angela Davis, Cornel West, Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Sherrilyn Ifill, Jelani Cobb, and John McWhorter, this series offers an unparalleled exploration of the African American experience across three pivotal dimensions: past, present, and future.
As we join together to engage with these thought-provoking lessons, we not only honor the contributions and resilience of Black Americans but also commit ourselves to a deeper understanding and reckoning with racial realities in the United States. This exploration is not just about learning history omitted from textbooks; it's about challenging our perceptions and fostering a community grounded in knowledge, empathy, and collective action towards racial justice.
