Phoenix mosque tours: Finding common ground

The Islamic Speakers Bureau of Arizona is providing a tour of 3 different mosques in the Valley. Register today for this opportunity on Saturday, May 6, 2003, noon to 5 pm. Your visits to each mosque will include a tour of the campus, a short talk from the Imam followed by Q&A.

Water and fruits will be provided at each stop. You will travel on an air conditioned coach. During the rides between locations guides will give you the history of the mosque you will visit as well as mosque etiquette.

For many months we have seen an alarming spike in anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim and white supremacist hate. It has been reported that extremist groups are planning a national "Day of Hate" tomorrow, targeting Jews. This evening, as the sun sets and Shabbat begins, our Jewish neighbors are living in fear.

As Christians, we are called to love our neighbors and to be peacemakers.

ELCA/Disciples bilateral dialogue affirms shared understanding of Baptism, Eucharist, and Ministry

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) concluded a productive meeting on January 26-28, 2023, at the Disciples Ministry Center in Fullerton, California, to continue their ongoing bilateral dialogue.

The dialogue team studied together the WCC Faith and Order Commission’s theological convergent text, Baptism, Eucharist, and Ministry.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins today, bridging the feasts of St. Peter and St. Paul. This year, the resources jointly published by the Commission on Faith and Order of World Council of Churches and the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, have been prepared by the Minnesota Council of Churches. Rev. Dr. Kelly Sherman Conroy, the ELCA’s first Indigenous (Lakota) woman PhD, and Rev. Antonio Machado, were involved in the process.
