In partnership with the Grand Canyon Synod, House of Prayer has entered into a program for training local Navajo leaders to serve as ‘Wisdom Keepers’ and spiritual guides.
During the month of July, perspective candidates for leadership are committed to a time of prayerful consideration. On Sunday, August 8, 2021, Bishop Hutterer and Pastor Jacqui Pagel will be present to affirm the candidates choosing to move forward.

In-person school will begin August 2 at Navajo Mission Preparatory School! President Nez has released orders allowing for schools to open for in-person learning.
Because all last school year was virtual, EVERYONE (students, teachers, parents, grandparents, staff) is excited and busy preparing classrooms, curriculum, meal plans and COVID safety guidelines.

While most of the reservation was closed for the past year, your mission's goal of providing essential service to the Navajo Community remained first and foremost. Thanks to our incredible entire staff, we stayed open with food, water and free noon meals for any Rock Point residents in need. Despite all obstacles, this is truly why we exist.

Beginning first with publishing a weekly take-home Bible Study and a Family Sunday Worship Guide, House of Prayer has now transitioned to Drive-in Worship broadcast on low-frequency FM 107.9. It's fun to see cars lined up in the parking lot and hear the honked Amens.

House of Prayer has become the 'warehouse' location for preparing food boxes for distribution to at-risk Rock Point residents. The Mission staff has made a list of more than 50 elderly and otherwise fragile community members. These boxes are delivered to the door, along with a check-in to ensure all is well in the household. On April 26, 2020, the Grand Canyon Synod was awarded $10,000 from the ELCA’s COVID-19 Response Fund to assist GCS Native American and Latino ministries with food, water and basic hygiene items.
On April 28, Bishop Deborah Hutterer shared this good news and issued a challenge to match this amount for even greater impact. As of this writing, we have exceeded the initial challenge by $3,700, raising $13,700 in one week. We celebrate the generosity of this synod.
