Welcoming Deacon John Weit as our 2024 Assembly churchwide representative

Deacon John Weit, the Executive for Worship at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will be our churchwide representative at the 2024 Synod Assembly. Read more about our 2024 assembly here.

With our theme “Embody the Word,” Deacon Weit’s profound experience and dedication to enhancing worship experiences across the ELCA will enrich our assembly. His role in overseeing the worship team and leadership in worship-related strategies makes him a pivotal figure in guiding our synod, congregations, and worship assemblies. His expertise will be especially invaluable as we navigate the complexities of our Bishop election process.

Before joining the churchwide organization in 2016, Deacon Weit's journey included serving as a musician for congregations in Pennsylvania and as cantor to Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester, Mass. His academic foundation, a Master of Arts in religion with a concentration in liturgy and music from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (now United Lutheran Seminary), underscores his deep commitment to the intertwining of music, liturgy, and faith.
