With the Growing Generosity Appeal, we boldly plant seeds for a new generation of growth in the ministries of the Grand Canyon Synod.
Celebrate with us the Successful Completion of our Growing Generosity Appeal Goal
Thanks to generous contributions from congregations and individuals, the Growing Generosity Task Force proudly announces the successful achievement of the appeal goal with over $750,000 pledged. This achievement unlocks an additional $150,000 grant, supporting diverse ministries within the Grand Canyon Synod, enhancing financial viability, nurturing future initiatives, and empowering voices for justice.
Through the generosity of individuals and congregations, together, as Grand Canyon Synod, we raised more than $500,000 within the first year of our three-year appeal.
In gratitude for, and in light of this success, the Growing Generosity Task Force challenged us to seek additional $250,000 by the end of 2023. The plans for these additional funds will benefit Lutheran Campus Ministries, new & emerging ministries, and our advocacy efforts.
If you have already made a gift or pledge, thank you. If you are able to make a second gift, or if you still considering a gift, please visit our pledge page or contact any member of the Task Force.
This appeal equips our synod to grow in three key initiatives: financial viability, future ministries, and fervent voices.
Growing Financial Viability:
Planting seeds of financial support for pastors and congregations through 3E Lilly Grants and programs. Our initial $150,000 fundraising was matched dollar-for-dollar, providing a total of $300,000. Learn more.
Growing Future Ministries:
Planting seeds for Lutheran Campus Ministry and new & emerging ministries. Learn more.
Growing Fervent Voices:

Why this special Grand Canyon Synod Appeal?
As the Church emerges from the 2020 pandemic, the people of the Grand Canyon Synod were more than faithful in their response to our work together. We have seen God’s abundance, and this has been shared for the benefit of our people and the church at-large.
However, there is much more that we could do together that would benefit God’s church, our congregations, our pastors, and all of us as individuals. We have an opportunity through this appeal to plant seeds for a new generation and by encouraging a growing generosity that will assist us in strengthening and expanding our mutual ministry as we communicate Jesus, connect people, and create possibilities.
Since we are better together, this appeal gives us an opportunity to participate in something that is greater than ourselves, and larger than our individual congregation’s ministries. Each person who participates in this appeal will benefit by sharing from the abundance that God has provided them. Henri Nouwen states it this way in The Spirituality of Fundraising, “Gratitude flows from the recognition that who we are and what we have are gifts to be received and shared.”
Your gifts of support, joined with others, in this effort will plant seeds for a new generation by growing in generosity, and expanding and strengthening our ministry as we communicate Jesus, connect people, and create possibilities for all the people of God in the Grand Canyon Synod and beyond.
