Job Details
• Position: Part-Time Church Secretary
• Hours: 9 AM – 2 PM, Tuesday through Friday (with potential for schedule adjustments)
• Location: University Lutheran Church, 340 E. 15th Street, Tempe, AZ 85281
• Compensation: $25/hour, paid twice a month
Responsibilities
The Church Secretary serves as the primary contact person for congregational members, community members, business affiliates, and others. Key duties include:
• Handling incoming telephone calls and emails.
• Greeting visitors and managing mail.
• Coordinating with groups and individuals using church facilities.
• Creating content for the website, social media, bulletins, newsletters, and group emails.
• Preparing for worship services by ensuring roles are filled and creating necessary materials.
• Ordering office and church supplies.
• Managing financial tasks such as paying vendors and recording deposits.
• Issuing parking passes for students and coordinating alternative arrangements when needed.
• Maintaining church records, including membership, financial, and building documents.
Qualifications
• Previous secretarial/administrative experience.
• Strong computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Publisher, Breeze software, and QuickBooks being a plus.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong writing skills and familiarity with church dynamics.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding church and personal information.
