Dorothy Anderson
Hello, my name is Dorothy Anderson, and I like to be called Dottie or Dorothy. I am a newly trained and experienced 2024 Spiritual Director graduate from the school of Sustainable Faith Spiritual Direction. This program of spiritual formation has given me a focus of a Jesuit lifestyle. I have been a Stephen Minister since 1999 and an active Lutheran since 1981.
Spiritual direction has been in my practice as a psychotherapist for the past 18 years. I value silence and I listen. It is the Holy Spirit who guides, as I listen to the words and feelings of others, noticing the movement of the Spirit.
As the Holy Spirit directs, I carry others to God for their individual needs, serving with humility and hospitality. Here I offer the gift of spiritual direction as a session with counseling being a separate and other way of helping.
There are times when a person may need to relax and just talk in the presence of the Holy Spirit. I can also offer contemplative prayer, breath prayers, Lectio Divina, an examen exercise of Ignatius or whatever the Spirit brings.
Nowadays, I worship and serve at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West, Arizona. I am a mother of 2 daughters and grandmother of 3 young grandchildren, a widow since 2022 of a 40-year marriage that was based on living the values of the Christian life.
I am a life-long learner and lover of nature; I see God in all things, enjoy music, reading, hiking, family time and time with Jesus. I praise, reverence and serve God.
