The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) has embarked on a crucial journey of reflection and reconciliation through its Truth & Healing Movement. This initiative invites us to confront the painful realities of our church’s colonizing history and its impact on Indigenous communities, while also taking the first steps toward healing. Over the coming months, the ELCA will provide educational resources, opportunities for engagement, and avenues for raising awareness of the ongoing harm faced by Indigenous people.

Central to this effort is the Association of American Indians and Alaska Natives of the ELCA, whose mission is to advocate for Indigenous rights, promote cultural learning, and foster healing and wholeness within the church and society. Through these efforts, they aim to bridge Indigenous spiritual practices with Christian worship, highlighting the deep connections between faith and Native traditions.
