December Events to Inspire: From Peacemaking to Blue Christmas Services
The Arizona Faith Network invites you to its 2024 Annual Gathering on Monday, December 9, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the serene Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. This year’s theme, Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers: Peacemakers in Action, encourages us to move beyond peacekeeping and address the root causes of injustice.
Keynote speaker Rev. Eugene Cho, President and CEO of Bread for the World, will offer profound insights into the transformative power of peacemaking. The event will be bilingual (Spanish/English) and hybrid, offering both in-person and live-stream options. Register by Friday, December 6, to secure your spot!
In addition to the gathering, December offers other opportunities for reflection and action:
Interfaith New Year’s Celebration: Join a peaceful evening of song, meditation, and unity on January 7 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery in Phoenix.
Peacemaking in Divided Times: Rev. Dr. Gary Mason will share reconciliation insights from Northern Ireland in events across Arizona on January 23, 26, and 28.
Blue Christmas Worship Service: For those carrying grief or loneliness this season, Cross in the Desert UMC hosts a service of solace on December 15.
Action Alert: Stand with Indigenous communities by signing the Interfaith Call to Action to protect the Great Bend of the Gila, a sacred site rich in cultural and spiritual significance.
Let’s embody our call to justice, peace, and unity this Advent season. For more information and event registration, visit the Arizona Faith Network Newsletter.
