2021 Assembly dates and deadlines

As we inch closer every day to our first online assembly, June 11-12, 2021, help us to spread the word about important dates and deadlines. While detailed assembly info can be found at gcsynod.org/assembly, this post compiles dates for voting and non-voting members.

Assembly Deadlines

April 23, 2021: Nomination forms for all positions must be received. Click here for the nominations page.
April 30, 2021: Interest forms for the Virtual Choir are due. Complete the interest form here. Please note that the choir will be limited to 80 members. The song will be “I Love to Tell the Story”. Videos will be due by May 15. More information will be available to the choir after the deadline for interest forms passes.
April 30, 2021: Ministry and Mission Partner stories are due. Please contact Brian Flatgard our communications director, at bflatgard@gcsynod.org for any kind of assistance. You can provide us with a written story, photos, audio, video, or a combination of all of these media. Our only requirement is that the story can be consumed in less than five minutes, with 2-3 minutes being ideal.
May 7, 2021: Registration for the assembly closes. We are strictly enforcing our registration deadline this year because of the complexity of our online voting system, training, and sending of materials. Click here for the registrations page.

Voting member training

Voting members at the synod assembly should plan to attend one of three available “Tech Check” training sessions. Links will be provided to voting members after registration closes on May 7. All sessions are the same, we’ve provided multiple times and dates for your convenience.

Wednesday, May 26 at 5:00 pm MST/PDT.
Tuesday, June 1 at 3:00 pm MST/PDT.
Monday, June 7 at 6:00 pm MST/PDT.

Mission Spending Plan

All members of the Grand Canyon Synod are invited to participate in a presentation/Q&A on the 2022-2023 Mission Spending Plan hosted by Erik Rehms, the Synod Treasurer. The dates will be:

Diakonia

All members of the Grand Canyon Synod are invited to participate in the Diakonia Graduation (5:00 p.m.) and the pre-assembly gathering on June 11, 2021 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Bishop’s Fall Gathering with Bishop Eaton

Finally, all active Rostered Ministers or retired ministers serving as interim pastors should please mark their calendars for the Bishop’s Fall Gathering to be held on October 18-20, 2021 in Phoenix. Bishop Eaton will be our guest for this event. More information coming soon!
